Meanwhile, reliable sources from the Democrats’ headquarters clarified that the Democrats have archived film footage proving links between today’s officials and the leaders of the southern gangs. At least from the final report of the Ngjela commission in Parliament, it seems the Democrats will offer other versions of the March tragedies. “Those tapes contain scenes that are shocking,” said Ylli Vejsiu, a PD deputy who has refused to make public the names of those filmed. The PD has asked TVSH to broadcast all the material that will be supplied to it by its officials. Otherwise, the Democrats are asking to find more open forms of publication. On page 3

VLORE TIRANE - 27 illegal migrants were arrested on the Vlora coast. A police operation put these people in handcuffs as they were preparing to leave for Italy. According to the information, the migrants had come from different cities to board the rubber boats that were ready to set off. They were 23 people from Lezha, 3 from Shkodra and 1 from Puka who were detained yesterday by the Vlora police directorate. After the latest tragedy in Otranto, the police have organized numerous preparatory operations along the coastline. After the arrests in Kavajë, yesterday the departure of the rubber boats was also blocked in Vlorë. On page 6

TIRANE - It has been decided to set up the anti-smuggling task force. A long meeting yesterday at the Ministry of the Interior, together with all the directors of the police directorates, defined the organization of a series of measures against illegal trafficking for all types of goods. Starting today, the directors will forward orders from the center for setting up numerous checkpoints and for full control over national roads, the coastline, and the border areas. “Smuggling continues, while illegal traffickers and other unlawful activities are continuing at the same pace,” was the conclusion of the meeting, which asked the directors for detailed explanations about the real situation in their cities.
